Sailing looks simple from the shore—just a boat, some sails, and the wind. But the first time you step aboard, you realize there’s a whole world of new skills, language, and decisions to learn. That’s where Wander the Blue comes in.

This site is for people who are just getting into sailing or who have been sailing for a bit, but are actively looking to expand their knowledge and skill set. I’m not a lifelong sailor or a salty old sea dog—I’m learning as I go. And as I figure things out, from trimming sails to understanding navigation rules, I’m sharing what I’ve learned here. My hope is that it helps you on your own journey, whether you’re taking your first lesson, considering your first boat, or just daydreaming about the open water.

Think of this space as a logbook of small victories, hard-won lessons, and the occasional mistake (because those are often the best teachers). It’s a place for curiosity, for building confidence, and for discovering that sailing isn’t about mastering everything at once—it’s about setting out, learning as you go, and enjoying the ride.

So if you’re ready to catch the wind and wander the blue, welcome aboard.
